Impressions of the Campfire Event, December 13–14, 2025.
I had the opportunity to participate in a campfire gathering of the Rising Up Scholarship Program, which took place from 2:00 p.m. on December 13 to 10:30 a.m. on December 14. Below, I would like to describe the schedule as well as share my personal impressions.
December 13th, 2025
At 2:00 p.m., all members were present, gathered together, and were assigned different tasks. I was part of the media team and was responsible for taking photos.
Until around 5:30 p.m., everyone worked together to prepare dinner.
From 5:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., the groups had dinner (bún thịt nướng), rehearsed their performances, and the theater groups prepared costumes and
props.
From 8:10 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., everyone got ready for the campfire evening.
From 8:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., the campfire dance took place.
From 8:45 p.m. onward, group games (competitions) were played, and five performances by the five groups were presented.
After the campfire, participants had the opportunity to interact with the teachers, share experiences, and learn from one another.
After 11:00 p.m., all official activities ended. We then had free time, and many of us played the game “Werewolf” in our room before going to sleep.
December 14th, 2025
From 6:00 to 6:30 a.m., we woke up according to the schedule and took care of our morning hygiene.
From 6:30 to 7:00 a.m., we did morning exercises, which felt refreshing and energizing.
From 7:00 to 8:00 a.m., we had breakfast. Afterward, the groups were assigned to clean the hall, corridors, and rooms.
This was followed by additional competitions between the groups. The overall results of the camp were announced, and at 10:30 a.m., everyone was free to leave.
Personal Reflections
This campfire gathering provided me with many valuable lessons and experiences that I do not often have the chance to gain.
On the way there, I personally witnessed vast rice fields, dilapidated tin houses, and farmers working under the scorching midday sun, “with their faces to the earth and their backs to the sky.”
I felt deep compassion for the hardships of their lives. My experiences were no longer limited to newspapers or the internet but became real-life encounters. This helped me better understand that
many people around us still live in difficult circumstances.
In addition, I had the opportunity to meet many talented senior students. This allowed me to learn from them how to analyze and assess situations, act flexibly, develop strategies, and explore
career opportunities for students.
Living together in a community (in the dormitory), especially at bedtime, helped me understand the feelings of those who study far away from home.
Preparing my own sleeping space and folding blankets showed me what self-reliance truly means—no one does everything for you. In a community, everyone is equal and must learn to share and support
one another.
Sweeping fallen leaves in the morning brought me closer to nature: breathing in fresh air, moving my body, and engaging in physical activity made me grow to appreciate labor and work.
I truly hope to participate in more campfire gatherings like this in the future, so that I can gain even more useful experiences from the older brothers and sisters. This experience brought me
great joy: making new and talented friends, witnessing a truly successful theater performance by my group, and learning many positive values—kindness, openness, humility, letting go of bad
habits, developing good ones, and striving to become a useful person for society.
