The Story of Hoàng Thiện’s Blood Donation

On October 22, 2025, at the age of 18, Hoàng Thiện donated blood for the first time at the Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.
After the donation, he felt deeply joyful and positive, knowing that his blood would help those who truly needed it.

At the registration area, he read a meaningful quote: “A drop of blood given leaves behind a smile.”

Although it was just a small act, it carried profound meaning – giving a part of his own life to someone else.
For him, it was a moment filled with joy, happiness, and hope – not only for the recipients, but also for himself, because he had done something deeply human.

He has decided to donate blood regularly – twice a year to continue this good deed and to keep spreading the spirit of compassion and kindness.

Symbols of Compassion and Humanity

The sunflower represents the girls – those who donate their beautiful hair to bring hope and courage to cancer patients. On September 9, 2024, Hương Duyên donated her hair.
GiKaD now has two sunflowers, always turning toward the sun – symbols of optimism, warmth, and empathy.

The Bodhi tree symbolizes the boys – like Hoàng Thiện – who donate blood to share life with others.
Just as the Bodhi tree stands firm and offers its shade to all living beings, blood donors give strength, hope, and the chance for a new beginning.

Together, these two symbols – the sunflower and the Bodhi tree – embody the spirit of humanity, resilience, and the desire to do good for the community – values that GiKaD has cherished and carried forward since its founding.

The path of education – from primary school to university – is a long journey that requires patience, care, and nurturing, so that the seeds can grow under the sunlight into bright sunflowers or strong Bodhi trees that offer shade, protection, and hope.

Since 2017, GiKaD has been sowing these seeds – and today, the young plants are sprouting, their first blossoms beginning to bloom.

With the support of all of you – our sponsors, friends, and partners – we can help these young people continue to grow, to flourish, and to let their future shine brightly. Together, we can

Make the world a better place.
